Champion Broncos shut out Bears

Since teams seldom game-plan or do any opponent-based scheming for first preseason games, one conclusion is that the Denver Broncos even with pedestrian quarterbacking are vastly superior to the Bears in straight-up football, no tricks. Even though the Broncos were sending exotic blitzes towards the Bears, the offensive line seemed to lack chemistry.

Akiem Hicks #96 of the Chicago Bears participates in warm-ups before a game against the Denver Broncos at Soldier Field on August 11, 2016 in Chicago, Illinois.

"I didn't realize how fast the defense was until I got out there", said rookie Adam Gotsis, playing in a game for the first time since tearing his ACL in college.

I was anxious to see the new "running back by committee" approach featuring Jeremy Langford, Ka'Deem Carey, Jacquizz Rogers, Senorise Perry and rookie Jordan Howard. That said, if he truly has improved as much as Kubiak seems to think he has, Denver fans have a lot to look forward to. "There's definitely some room for improvement". From a surprise victory over the then-15th-ranked Notre Dame in 2014 to a heroic last-two-minute game-winning drive against Syracuse in 2012, Siemian has never had a problem dealing with high pressure scenarios.

Hall probably was the MVP for the Bears Thursday night, not that there was a big group to choose from. Siemian, who quarterbacked for Northwestern from 2012 to 2014, will return to the Chicago area as a co-starter at quarterback alongside Mark Sanchez. Like Sanchez, he got plenty of chances to throw the ball. Again, Hall was able to reach in and knock the pass away. In the Orange and Brown scrimmage in Columbus on Saturday, Griffin showed signs of re-tapping the potential he found as a can't-miss rookie in Washington, connecting for two touchdown passes.

Head coach Gary Kubiak handed Lynch the keys to the offense at the start of the second half, and the former University of Memphis gunslinger completed six of seven passes for 74 yards in an efficient two quarters.

Washington worked with the second team and was a force all night. One of those passes went to Kevin White for three yards.

Washington showed quickness and playmaking ability that has kept him on the roster through three, injury plagued seasons.

Nephew in 'Making a Murderer' ordered released
According to " Making a Murderer ", the police coerced confessions out of Dassey and planted evidence to bring in Avery. The decision could lead to the defendant's release in 90 days if the government does not decide to retry him.

Fortunately for the Bears, Callahan didn't let the setback phase him, and he made a huge play later in the game.

The throw capped off a nice drive in which Sanchez was 7 of 8 for 83 yards. Compare and contrast, Bryce Callahan. Freeman only had one tackle but it went for a loss, with Freeman scraping in the backfield to take down the ball carrier.

- The Bears offensive line.

This, mind you, came against a Broncos defense that played without pass rushers Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware.

Defensive lineman Cornelius Washington registered three tackles and a sack in a strong performance.

Sixth-round pick DeAndre Houston-Carson pulled his helmet off on the sideline in frustration due to a neck injury.

Special teams also stepped up and blocked a punt which Bennie Fowler recovered for a Denver touchdown. QB Brian Hoyer found WR Deonte Thompson for a long gain out of play-action in that scenario ...

Where exactly did all that fighting in training camp help the Bears? But Sanchez's impressive opening series was followed by a interception on the next drive.
