Disney star Michael Mantenuto found dead at 35

The Miracle actor was found dead in his auto in Des Moines, Washington, on Monday, according to police. The death is reportedly being labeled a suicide.

Michael skated his way to the top when he was cast in the 2004 Disney film "Miracle" about the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team's victory over Russian Federation. He was only 22 at the time. He joined the Special Forces after acting for a few years.

Such a tragic, shocking end to his story. According to IMDb, when Mantenuto was getting picked on, he fought one of the other actors trying out for the role.

Col. Guillaume Beaurpere, commander of Mantenuto's army unit, confirmed his death to TMZ.

Miracle actor Michael Mantenuto committed suicide on Monday, April 24, at the age of 35. The team won the gold medal in the 1980 Winter Olympics after defeating the highly-rated Soviet team in the finals. His most famous role was in the 2004 Disney movie, Miracle, alongside Miracle cast members Kurt Russell and Patricia Clarkson. He was also featured in From Hockey to Hollywood: Actors' Journeys after Miracle came out. His father was the hockey coach at his high school where he played hockey.

Following Miracle, Mantenuto nabbed roles in the 2006 TV movie Dirtbags and 2008 comedy Surfer, Dude. Mantenuto played Jack O'Callahan, a member of the USA team who injures his knee, but returns to the rink to take on the Soviets, and makes a key shot that leads to a US goal. Boston University and the University of New Hampshire wanted him, too.
