The tweet came in response to a Daily Intelligencerstory in NY magazine that suggested Bill Shine - the co-president of Fox News - may be losing support among the network brass and could be on his way out.

NY magazine cites anonymous sources in reporting that Shine recently asked 21st Century Fox CEO James Murdoch and his brother, Lachlan, who's the company's co-chairman, for a statement of support amid a spate of negative publicity for the network.

The social-media outburst was likely meant to bolster Shine - Hannity played a large role in Shine being hired at Fox News so many years ago - but one person familiar with the company acknowledged it has probably put the executive more firmly in cross-hairs of public opinion. He has been cited in four different lawsuits brought against Fox News Channel by current or former employees. In a recently filed lawsuit, former Fox News anchor Andrea Tantaros claimed Shine was aware of Ailes' alleged sexual harassment yet chose to ignore it. Shine has called the allegation untrue.

Roger Ailes is gone.

"Gabe, i pray this is NOT true because if it is, that's the total end of the FNC as we know it", Hannity tweeted. Hannity recommended that Fox News hire Shine early in the network's history, and Shine was an early producer on "Hannity & Colmes", one of the first primetime programs on the network's schedule.

Even though you don't want to see your players fighting on social media, Tomlin may secretly like their competitive attitudes. He's just going to learn as much as he can while trying to fit in on a team with designs of reaching the Super Bowl .

Is the tick-tocking of the clock over at Fox News nearing the midnight hour for Sean Hannity? Hannity says he's praying Shine doesn't leave Fox News.

Hannity sent out a subsequent tweet hinting that he knew who at Fox News "is trying to get an innocent person fired".

Fox News on Friday declined to comment on speculation about Shine.

The polarizing host fired off a series of tweets on Thursday afternoon amid rumors Bill Shine was potentially losing support from the Murdochs - particularly James and Lachlan. "Best Sean." He followed up by tweeting #istandwithbill. "Minutes later, he changed it to "#Istandwithshine".
