"New Nintendo 2DS XL sports a attractive clamshell design and offers a great balance between price and performance".

When the New Nintendo 2DS XL launches on July 28th in the U.S., it will be available in the black and turquoise colorway you see in the video above. Interestingly enough, the New 2DS XL will also include the same display screen found in the New 3DS XL and will also support the improved graphics and speed that the 3DS XL touted.

Nintendo has announced a new video game system out of the blue - the Nintendo 2DS XL.

There are also three new titles heading to Nintendo's handheld platforms, adds Pocket-Lint, with Hey! It will launch in North America on July 28 with a price tag of $149.99 only.

It will play Nintendo & New Nintendo 3DS, and Nintendo DS games.

The new Nintendo handheld will be available in Black-Turquoise colour, as you can see in the picture above.

There's a black & blue colour scheme in the United States trailer above, but the handheld's Japanese website also shows a hot white & gold number. The Switch has been selling well, but Nintendo clearly isn't forgetting about its hand-held audience. As its name suggests, it takes the aesthetic and features of the New 3DS XL, but removes the extra viewing dimension. The Switch released two months ago and still suffers stock shortages, and now we're seeing a new handheld from Nintendo. Why? It is smaller, lightweight and also comes with NFC support which makes it Amiibo compatible! According to the company, it sold over 2.74 million units of the Switch in the first month, when it expected to sell only 2 million units.

The New Nintendo 2DS XL's announcement comes at a odd time for Nintendo. Nintendo's just announced the New 2DS XL, which, in essence, is a New 3DS XL without the expensive 3D function that we stopped bothering with ages ago.
