Russia's Chernova stripped of 2008 Olympic bronze for doping

The International Olympic Committee said on Monday that Chernova's urine sample revealed traces of turinabol during a retesting program of Beijing and 2012 London Olympics athletes.

Sotherton won heptathlon bronze in 2004 and had already been moved to third in the Beijing 4x400m relay after Belarus and Russia's disqualification.

Sotherton had previously been upgraded from fifth to fourth when silver medallist Lyudmila Blonska of Ukraine was stripped and banned for life following a second positive test.

Kelly Sotherton wants a "fresh, clean" Olympic bronze medal and not the one given to Russian drugs cheat Tatyana Chernova, which she regards as "dirty and tainted".

She added: 'I came away from Beijing feeling a failure and now I have two medals from there and three in all'.

Sotherton retired from athletics in 2012 having won medals at Commonwealth, European, Olympic and world level, indoors and outdoors.

Chernova, 29, has already lost a 2011 world title, 2012 Olympic bronze and 2013 World Student Games gold for a retrospective positive test from the 2009 world championships.
