A French Rugby League player is reportedly facing a lifetime ban for punching a referee in the face during a game in Perpignan last weekend.

Video footage shows referee Benjamin Casty showing a Saint-Esteve player a yellow card - which under rugby league rules suspends a player from the field of play for 10 minutes and is known colloquially as a 'sin bin'.

Casty, who is the brother of Catalans Dragons prop Remi, was taken to hospital to treated for injuries to his jaw and cheekbone.
