Cardinals place Piscotty on DL with hamstring injury

Stephen Piscotty strained his right hamstring running out a ground ball in the second inning.

Center fielder Dexter Fowler became the second St. Louis Cardinals outfielder to leave Thursday night's game against the Milwaukee Brewers with an injury when he suffered a right shoulder strain in the third inning.

Not only did the Cardinals lose to the Milwaukee Brewers 5-4 on Thursday night at Busch Stadium, they may have lost two starting outfielders to injuries.

Travis Shaw sliced a two-run double just inside the third base line that scored Eric Thames and Hernan Perez, while Keon Broxton bounced an RBI double down the left field line to chase Shaw home.

Randal Grichuk moved from left to center and Aledmys Diaz shifted from shortstop to left in the first outfield appearance of his professional career.

Wainwright gave up four runs and 10 hits in five innings. St. Louis 3B Jhonny Peralta (upper respiratory infection) will start a rehab assignment Friday at Single-A Palm Beach. First pitch for the first game is scheduled for 6:05 PM CST, with Jimmy Nelson (1-2, 5.34 ERA) slated to face off against Chad Kuhl (1-2, 6.26 ERA).
