We are sending fire departments into these neighborhoods.

The governors of Wisconsin and Oklahoma toured the destruction in their states Wednesday, and residents were allowed to sift through the wreckage.

Danny Ringer, with the Elk City Fire Department, said, "We have approximately 50 to 75 homes that were damaged". Some people were trapped in their trailers.

Shards of glass were flying at them like bullets, Tyson told the Eau Claire Leader-Telegram.

The severe weather also caused extensive damage to several turkey barns across from the mobile home park.

According to NWS reports and the Wheeler County Office of Emergency Management, two homes were completely destroyed and two more received "major damage". While their home was flattened, the SUV next to it was untouched.

The south side of Elk City was hit hardest by the storm, said Mayor Bill Helton.

Amazingly, Nolan escaped with just a couple of scratches. Samuelson's daughters suffered minor injuries, and the mother suffered a gash on her head, but he said all are expected to be fine.

Another resident of the trailer park, Robert Black, was standing outside his home watching the storm kick up when golf ball size hail drove him inside.

Daily says he walked among the debris and helped free a man who was buried under a refrigerator and debris. "While there is tragedy, what we have going on here is a miracle", said Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald.

Cockrell said it is still early in tornado season and storms have been slightly below average at this point in the year.

Seever was Gavin's friend from high school and he explained, "I think he was sleeping, he works second shift driving a truck".

The storm knocked out telephone services into and out of the city.

Fox 9 reported that, according to "a public safety source", all of the firefighters and ambulances in Barron County were called to the trailer park to try to rescue as many survivors of the tornado as possible. The care and concern from the community has been overwhelming.

The county plans to open a volunteer reception center on Friday to coordinate trailer park clean up efforts.

The Red Cross and the Salvation Army set up a shelter and were providing food and clothes for displaced families.

The twisters were among up to 29 that were reportedly spawned by powerful storms that raced through a swath of the central U.S. stretching from Texas to the Great Lakes on Tuesday evening, destroying dozens of homes, killing two people and injuring dozens of others. The thunderstorm continued to move east-northeast through Rusk County with many reports of damage.

In Kansas, the Pawnee Rock monument, a historical marker and shelter, had its roof torn off, Bellendir said, and nearby trees were damaged. Damage survey teams will assess locations, strengths and numbers of tornadoes. The department told residents to stay home because power lines were down across the city.

The Wisconsin tornado was a huge swath of the Plains and Upper Midwest threatening a severe weather.

Fitzgerald said local and state officials are calling it a tornado, but that hasn't been confirmed by the National Weather Service, he said. Gusts of 85 miles per hour (135 kph) were recorded at the weather service's office in Valley, west of Omaha.

Even those who were not home at the time of the tornado were still on edge, like Misty La Rue.

Authorities have released the name of a man who was killed when a tornado tore through a mobile home park in northwestern Wisconsin. "They are working house to house, home to home, looking for people".

The twisters were among up to 29 that were reportedly spawned by powerful storms that raced through a swath of the central US stretching from Texas to the Great Lakes on Tuesday evening, destroying dozens of homes, killing two people and injuring dozens of others.

That park was the scene of major devastation after a supercell brought with it hail, wind, rain and a tornado late afternoon on Tuesday.
