CBS News' White House Correspondent Major Garrett says that the official was part of the Trump advance team preparing for the president's visit Israel next week.

Many, including me, hope that President Trump will take this very special occasion to announce that he will fulfill his campaign promise and move the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Israel's capital, Jerusalem.

Friedman also mentioned Trump's upcoming visit to Israel, observing that the president had chosen Israel one of the stops on his first global trip as a demonstration that "His love for and commitment to the State of Israel is rock-solid and enjoys his highest priority".

Trump is scheduled to visit Saudi Arabia, Bethlehem in the Palestinian territories and the Vatican, the seat of the Catholic Church.

This evening, US officials reiterated that the embassy will be moved from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem but warned Israel against pressuring the administration any further about the topic.

The comments purportedly inspired a shouting match, with the Israeli officials calling their American counterparts "boorish" and "arrogant".

U.S. President Donald Trump called Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and discussed his upcoming visit to Israel, senior officials told Haaretz on Wednesday morning.

During his trip, Trump won't unveil a specific "diplomatic plan" or a "road map", Friedman said. "It's not in your territory - it's part of the West Bank".

It was the largest group defection by North Koreans to the South since North Korean leader Kim Jong Un took power in 2011. The North Korean statement said the plan had "been put into the extremely serious phase of implementation".

Israel captured and annexed East Jerusalem, including the Old City and its holy sites, in the 1967 Six Day War and considers all of Jerusalem to be the undivided eternal capital of Israel, a stance not recognized by the worldwide community, including the US.

But Trump has said Jewish settlements "don't help the [peace] process".

The paper, according to WSJ, was meant to demonstrate the Gulf states commitment to align itself to Trump's foreign policy, who has stressed a desire to work with Arab states to forge a Middle East peace agreement.

However, since the Palestinian Authority would like to make East Jerusalem the capital of an eventual state, picking Jerusalem as an embassy site would show clear favour to Israel. They do not reflect the U.S. position, and certainly not the President's position, " CNN quoted White House statement.

"We look forward to receiving President Trump and we want to work with you and with the president these coming years to strengthen our great alliance".

A White House spokesman later told CNN: "These comments were not authorized by the White House".

McMaster, speaking to reporters Tuesday, declined to confirm whether the wall is part of Israel. He said that the embassy move would be considered "in the context of a peace initiative".

Indeed, Trump himself has described Jerusalem as "the eternal capital of the Jewish People".
