Jaguars to start QB Henne on Thursday

Former University of MI quarterback Chad Henne is in a heated battle for the starting quarterback role in Jacksonville.

Through two preseason games this season, Bortles is 11 of 18 for 81 yards with no touchdowns and no picks, while Henne is 11-16 for 183 yards with one TD.

The two quarterbacks battling for the Jacksonville Jaguars starting job split time Thursday night in the Jaguars 24-23 loss to the Carolina Panthers.

Head coach Doug Marrone didn't rule out playing Chad Henne and Blake Bortles in the fourth game of the preseason.

Henne's primary job will be keeping defenses honest enough to give Jacksonville's run-oriented offense led by rookie Leonard Fournette a fighting chance.

In three seasons, Bortles has 1,088 rushing yards, averaging 6.6 yards per carry with five rushing touchdowns. "Whatever you want to call it, I'm still trying to evaluate who the best person is at that position". While the Jaguars have great players at several key positions, they still have a lot of questions to answer at the quarterback position.

Thailand's deputy PM says unclear if Yingluck has fled country
The judge said Yingluck failed to provide a medical certificate, leading the judges to believe she meant to flee the trial. Thousands of police had been deployed in response to fears that a guilty verdict would lead to violent protests.

"[Seeing] how well I thought that he handled that whole situation, so I think being able to see that definitely helped me in handling it". Marrone obviously isn't enthralled with him as his starter.

Henne is one of the highest paid backups in the league, but his career numbers are pretty unimpressive, to say the least.

Marrone has not been pleased with what he has seen from his quarterbacks thus far in the preseason.

"I kind of look at it the other way". Because the team picked up Bortles' fifth-year option, which would pay him $19.053 million in 2018, it seemed likely that he would be cut had the Jaguars opted to go with Henne as the full-time starter. Sixth-round selections may just surprise you, as I believe one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game was drafted that late.

"I show up tomorrow (Friday), tomorrow's off day so whenever the next day is I'll show up and when they tell me to go play, I'll go play for as long as they let me", Bortles said.
