Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said he believes the usa was ready to continue dialogue with Moscow on a number of issues despite tensions cause by United States sanctions against Russia. It's unclear how many of those in the US diplomatic staff in Russian Federation are Americans.

Mr Tillerson's comments to Sergei Lavrov, Russia's Foreign Minister, come after Donald Trump has repeatedly declined to categorically say that Russia meddled in last year's presidential race, contradicting the conclusions of his own intelligence agencies.

After Congress approved the sanctions, but prior to Trump signing the bill, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the United States to reduce its diplomatic personnel in Russia by 755.

"I asked several clarifying questions, just to describe the thinking behind that diplomatic note that we received, but I told them we would respond by September 1", he said, referring to Moscow's deadline to shrink the mission.

"We will certainly continue dialogue with our North Korean neighbors", the foreign minister said.

Both sides discussed Russia's countermeasures to USA sanctions.

Tillerson's rhetoric is definitely not in line with that of Trump, who for months has routinely dismissed allegations about Russian interference and collusion as being a "hoax" - which he did once again Monday morning.

Ryabkov asserted that US legislators would have balked at such stiff penalties if they had hurt more American businesses doing trade with Russian Federation.

"The other is to call for the resumption of the six-party talks, emphasizing the peaceful settlement of the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue by diplomatic and political means so as to avoid further escalation of the tension", Wang said, in a statement released by the Chinese foreign ministry.
