The 2400 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Verne, where a police shooting occurred on September 23, 2017, is shown in a Google Maps Street View image from December 2016.

After responding to a family disturbance on the 2400 block of Foothill Boulevard around 3:20 a.m. Saturday, the officer confronted a man with "an unknown dark object in his hand". The officer then discovered the item was not a weapon.

The officer fired "several" rounds and the man was struck in his upper torso.

After the woman said she was shot at a home across the street, police entered the residence where the suspect opened fire.

The woman, a former Corrections Department officer, was taken to a hospital and was last listed in critical condition.

One of the officers then used his Taser to try and stop the man who appeared to be advancing in a threatening way despite being ordered to stop.

A second video, which was posted on Twitter on Friday, showed the man grabbing an object from the officer's belt as they struggled next to a parked vehicle.

The officer's injuries aren't believed to be serious as he was protected by a vest. That officer was hit once in the lower chest, Moore continued.

The man repeatedly punches the officer after the officer tries to use a stun gun to subdue him. The officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to a city official. Police say there is no further danger to the public. The investigation was ongoing.
