Jared Kushner, senior adviser and son-in-law to President Donald Trump, has been registered to vote as a woman for eight years.

At a time of slow but steady U.S. economic expansion, the Trump tax-cut package has some support in Congress, even among Republican fiscal hawks who only a short time ago routinely opposed deficit-financed fiscal proposals.

Enabling the purchase of plans across state lines might provide some relief from the insurers' flight from many state exchanges, leaving millions of Americans stuck between having to buy insurance under Obamacare's mandate, but having only limited, expensive choices.

Trump said he was working on executive orders letting people buy health insurance across state lines and making it easier for them to join association health plans.

Republican Sen. Thad Cochran of MS has been recovering in MS from what his office described Wednesday as "a urological issue".

Senators needed to vote on the measure this week because procedural protections against a Democratic filibuster expire Sunday, though they could revisit the issue in future months. "He was there for me two times before", presumably referring to Paul's votes in favor of the "skinny repeal" and "partial repeal" amendments during the previous Obamacare repeal effort in July. Indeed, the real question regarding the whip count seems to be whether or not the bill really has the unanimous support of all the other senators, or if a handful of private opponents are simply laying low and letting those four take the heat. "I think President Trump's going to do this on his own". It was Republicans John McCain, Rand Paul, Susan Collins who all announced they would oppose the bill.

The decision was reached after three Senate Republicans said they would vote against the bill, sinking the chances of the latest Republicans attempt to repeal the United States health care law enacted under Obama.

"Conservatives are still fighting for free-market reforms to the health care system", Paul said in a statement.

Regarding the recently-shelved Graham-Cassidy health care bill, Trump insisted that enough votes could be wrangled - but not before the Friday deadline.

The president also said he would be open to negotiating with Democrats to see if he could "get a healthcare plan that's even better". Florida said Tuesday that most of its 45 percent average increase in premiums stems from the risk that the Trump administration will skip cost-sharing payments that reimburse insurers for lowering rates.

"There's an understanding among outside groups, among members, among Republicans across the country that there is a desperate need to cut middle-class taxes", Bliss said, noting "excitement and relief" among outside groups that it was "finally time" to push the tax package in Congress.
