In fact, Müller says there will be 80 new electric vehicles by 2030, plus 30 plug-in hybrids and 50 battery EVs.

To reinforce that message, Mueller appeared on stage emerging from an updated version of the driverless Volkswagen Sedric concept - a pointer to the brand's electric and autonomous future.

The Frankfurt Motor Show is about to commence and one of the vehicles set to create a lot of interest is this new Volkswagen I.D. Crozz SUV.

In terms of performance, the I.D. Crozz II comes with two electric motors - one for each axle, so there's AWD - and a combined output of 302 horsepower (225 kilowatts). The concept's styling is a mix between an SUV and a four-door coupe, according to the brand, with the ID Crozz' design highlighted by a wide bonnet, cleanly contoured wings and roof with a high-gloss black exterior finish.

The I.D. vehicle that will be revealed will most probably be a large saloon auto that will be revealed at the 2018 Geneva Motorshow. The premium auto brand is slashing spending to free up €10 billion to develop an electric-car lineup that will comprise as many as 12 models in 2025.
