The T-Charge has been billed as a big step forward in the battle against the poisonous particles that are pushed into London's air.

The charge applies to petrol and diesel vehicles with engines that fail to conform to Euro 4 emission standards, The Guardian says.

Drivers of high polluting vehicles will therefore pay a total of £21.50 to drive in central London as the T-Charge zone applies to the same area as the £11.50 Congestion Charge.

The T-Charge is the first of a series of new rates being introduced in London.

"As Mayor, I am determined to take urgent action to help clean up London's lethal air", he said.

"It's staggering that we live in a city where the air is so toxic that many of our children are growing up with lung problems", Mayor Sadiq Khan said previously.

Shin Megami Tensei 5 is heading to the Nintendo Switch this fall
At the moment, nothing else has been shared, besides the fact that the game is for Nintendo Switch . Atlus officially announced today that Shin Megami Tensei V will be coming to Switch .

"Small businesses which will be affected are likely to be hit hard by the introduction of the T-charge, which nearly doubles the cost of driving a vehicle through London during peak hours".

"City Hall says as many as 34,000 vehicles will be affected, but plans have already been set to replace the T-Charge with an Ultra Low Emission Zone from 2019, which is expected to affect thousands more".

But the T-Charge has divided public opinion, with many accusing the scheme of targeting Britain's poorest drivers.

"That means fewer adults suffering from asthma, strokes and dementia, but also children hopefully not having the under-developed lungs they now do".

The plans have come under criticism from conservative members of the London assembly and the federation of small businesses.
