"The NFL has decided that she would force no players to stand up for our national anthem".

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the league had not sought a commitment by players to stand for the anthem at Tuesday's talks.

"We have about six or seven players that are involved in this protest at this point", Goodell told reporters after a two-day meeting with team owners and the players' labor union in New York City, saying he hoped that number would eventually be zero.

Earlier this week, National Football League owners met with players and their union during the annual owners meeting to discuss the controversy, but the issue wasn't resolved, Sports Illustrated said. " wrote Mr. Trump in a tweet early in the morning".

One of the children managed to get Prince William to reveal that one of Prince George's favourite movies is the Lion King. Kate was also joined by Prince Harry as they greeted the bear and had a little dance while briefly exchanging a few words.

The NFL and NFLPA released a statement Tuesday describing the meeting as "productive" and a step in the right direction to "promote positive social change and address inequality". We're going to continue to encourage them to stand. The protests had mostly fizzled out until last month, when Trump reignited the issue by decrying any player who kneeled during the anthem as a "son of a bitch" who should be fired. "It's also important for us to honor our flag and our country, and we think our fans expect us to do that". Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick launched the protests in 2016, refusing to stand for the national anthem to draw attention to racial injustice and police brutality. "We did not ask for that", Goodell said.

More players have begun kneeling since Trump criticized the practice, and some sympathetic teammates have linked arms with the kneelers while standing themselves. "That's what we're having with our players". "What we're trying to do is deal with the underlying issue and understand what it is they're protesting".

The president has called the protests disrespectful, and has urged supporters to walk out of games when players kneel during the anthem.
