Liberman's statement comes just days after the IDF's Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot told the Saudi Elaph news site that Israel is willing to share intelligence with Saudi Arabia, a country that shares Israel's concerns about Iran.

While not mentioning Iran by name, he said Lebanon condemned all attacks against Arab nations, but blamed exploitable inter-Arab divisions that allowed worldwide and regional powers to promote their interests.

His comments were the latest sign that behind-the-scenes links between Israel and Gulf countries may be occurring due to Iran , their shared enemy, even though they do not have formal diplomatic ties.

But he said Israeli officials have tended to exaggerate such interactions in a bid to "drive down the price they may have to pay, especially on Palestinian issues, to expand strategic relations and ties with Arab countries".

The meeting is also expected to address a Yemen rebel missile that was intercepted near Riyadh on November 4, and a pipeline fire in Bahrain on November 10.

In his speech at the opening session of the Extraordinary Session of the Arab League at the level of Foreign Ministers, which opened here this evening, he said: "This response reflects the consideration of our countries of the grave dangers to the security and stability of our region as an inevitable result of the blatant violations of the Iranian regime in the internal affairs of the Arab countries in an attempt to destabilize their security and stability and stir up sectarian strife to create a division between our peoples and our countries".

Earlier this month, Lebanese prime minister Saad Hariri announced from Saudi capital Riyadh that he was quitting, citing Iran's "grip" on his country.

The ministers, according to the final statement, said they supported any action to be taken by Saudi Arabia to protect its national security, within the boundaries of worldwide legitimacy.

"Iran's biggest arm in the region at the moment is the terrorist Hezbollah arm", he said. Iran, he added, has destroyed any chance of building trust with the Arabs.

"When I was at a meeting of the [US] joint chiefs of staff in Washington and heard what the Saudi representative had to say, I found it identical to what I think in the need to confront Iran and its expansion in the region".

His son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner has reportedly formed a bond with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

"Iran created agents in the region, such as the Houthi and Hezbollah militias, in total disregard for all worldwide principles", said al-Jubeir.

However, the report was dismissed by some Israeli sources who claimed the newspaper was biased towards Iranian-backed terror group Hezbollah.
