It does come across as a surprise that the price of the game for iPad is the same as what is available for PC.

"You have to think on your feet in Civilization VI in ways you've never had to before", read TIME's Civilization VI review a year ago.

On the iPad, nearly nothing is changed from the PC version of the game.

Civilization VI for iOS will regularly sell for $60, but to celebrate the launch, Aspyr is offering it for half price. Users can get the game, a manageable 3.14 GB download, for free and try it out for at most 60 turns.

Civilization VI now costs $29.99 on the iOS App Store as part of a launch discount, with it slated to go up to its regular price of $59.99 on January 4. It also includes a free trial mode that lets you demo the free game for 60 turns without paying a cent (spoiler: you'll want more turns).

Two Oklahoma County residents die of flu complications
There have been news reports that this year's flu vaccine is only about 10 percent effective, but those reports are misleading. The flu is on the rise in Hamilton, prompting the city's public health services to renew calls for people to get vaccinated.

"Civilization VI" for the iPad is free to play for a limited number of turns. That's not the case with the latest high-profile iPad game release.

If you have never played one of Sid Meier's Civilization games, you don't know what you are missing.

This version of the game doesn't have support for controllers, but smart keyboards are supported. However, with the release of a full game for the iPad, it looks like the franchise is eyeing the mobile industry as its target market.

The main menu in Civilization VI for the iPad. The rest is the same and now you can touch the options instead of using a mouse to guide them on screen. This is not a mobile version or some kind of sequel, but the full PC title on your iPad. Aspyr Media says it hopes to eventually support DLC and expansions on the iPad, but did not have any other details to share. The game needs iOS version 11 or newer, and should run well enough on an iPad Air 2, iPad 2017, or any of the iPad Pro variants.

There is a section in the game that reads "additional content".
