Light snow, freezing temperatures expected in York leading into New Year's Eve

Brisk winds and low temperatures pushed wind chills into the single digit temperatures Wednesday. At that point, we will see a decrease in the wind and perhaps a little bit less cold air for the New Year's weekend.

"Windchill is based on the rate of heat loss from exposed skin caused by wind and cold", the National Weather Service explained.

The weather service in Huntsville said models are disagreeing again on the timing, but the window for snow could be from Saturday night into Sunday night.

For Monday's big Penguin Swim, those fearless enough to take the dip can expect mostly sunny skies, with a high of 30 degrees, per the weather service. The weather service believes another wind chill advisory might be issued for Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.

More clouds will overspread the state Friday night and temperatures will bottom out in the single digits and lower teens. Low around 1. Southeast wind around 5 miles per hour.

More than 8000 Tunisians are suspected to have fought with ISIL, hundreds of women among them. "When we arrived here, we found the situation really chaotic".

The air will feel -15 degrees Tuesday night as snow is possible in North Central Ohio, according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday: Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near -6. This, along with winds gusting past 25 miles per hour, creates a wind chill factor of 20 to 30 degrees below zero. The cold snap continues though the weekend, with expected highs of 35 degrees Saturday and 28 Sunday, with lows of 19 and 17 degrees.

New Year's Eve will be cold but dry.

We've begun what will be one of the coldest stretches in December in about 17 years, and the bitter cold will spill over into the start of the new year as well.
