Police make arrest in Missing child case

The Onslow County Sheriff's Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation have arrested a man in connection with the disappearance of 3-year-old Mariah Woods.

According to search warrants obtained by the Jacksonville Daily News, Kimrey is accused of "removing Mariah Woods body from the scene of the her death, and did hide Mariah Woods death and body".

Kimrey is being charged with concealing of death, obstruction of justice, second-degree burglary, felony larceny and possession of stolen property.

Onslow County deputies say they charged 32-year-old Earl Kimrey with concealing a death.

Additional charges may follow as the investigation continues, authorities said.

Investigators believe, due to evidence gathered, that Mariah is deceased.

On Friday morning, hundreds of volunteers organized a search party to look for the girl, ABC 11 reported.

The girl is shy and has an orthopedic leg problem, her grandmother said, according to CBS News.

Her mother told investigators she last saw Mariah Sunday, and Kimrey saw her later that night.

The FBI says they have been sending "items of interest" to their lab in Quantico, Virginia, for priority testing in the case.

Kimrey allegedly "failed to notify a law enforcement authority of the death of Mariah Woods, and secretly disposed of the dead child's body", according to the warrant.

Kristy, who this week disabled her Facebook account after posting the missing person's appeal for her daughter, claimed that Mariah was taken by a stranger. She said her boyfriend saw the child at about midnight when she got up and he told her to go back to bed. "She's my baby. She's my everything". "I'd give anything." The FBI estimates that 600 people turned out to join the search for a missing North Carolina child, and some had to be turned away.
