Apple (NSDQ:AAPL) said this week it is introducing a feature allowing customers to obtain, view and keep medical records on their iPhones, continuing the company's experimentation into the healthcare market.

New battery management features will be added in a later iOS 11.3 beta release, Apple said.

In the initial period, the support is restricted to selected businesses like Wells Fargo, Discover, Hilton, and Lowe's.

Sumbul Desai, Apple's digital health lead, a physician and medical researcher who previously worked at Stanford, told CNBC, "We're hoping to enable richer conversations between doctor and patient".

Apple announced the upgrade Friday.

According to iHelpBR editor Filipe Espósito, evidence pointing towards an iPad Pro that features Face ID technology has been uncovered in the first iOS 11.3 beta version.

Apple Inc's move on Wednesday to give iPhone owners information about the health of their batteries reverses the company's longstanding refusal to make such information available directly on iPhones and iPads, even though battery health has always been easy to check on Apple's Mac computers. First iOS 11 brings 14 different avatars for Animojis while this new iOS 11.3 brings four new avatars including lion, bear, dragon, and skull. The Health app and Health Records feature are available on the iPhone only. Finally, support for Advanced Mobile Location (AML) to automatically send a user's current location when making a call to emergency services will be rolled out in countries where AML is supported. These features will be coming in a later iOS 11.3 beta release. In truth, turning that feature off likely is a bad idea - if you're seeing significant enough slowdowns to warrant turning it off, you should just get a new battery.

Newport County v Tottenham Hotspur Betting Preview
The last time Tottenham lost to fourth-tier opposition was when they faced Russell Slade's Grimsby Town in September 2005. Mauricio Pochettino has named a strong side for the game with Harry Kane starting alongside Fernando Llorente up front.

For Apple, the new update could help make its devices more useful to the users. AML was developed in the United Kingdom and is fully deployed there and in Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Lithuania, and New Zealand, and.

Interestingly, all Android smartphones on the Gingerbread version of its operating system (launched 2010) and later have been capable of doing this since July 2016.

Health Records is available as an update through Apple's existing Health app. More systems will join in the future.

The News app will also be improved with Top Stores.

Notably absent from the announcement for iOS 11.3 is any mention of major security improvements.

For now you can't send medical records from the app to a new doctor or some other health care provider you're considering.
