Netflix has announced My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman, as the show's titled, will debut January 12.

In 2015, Letterman signed off from The Late Show after more than three decades on the air. Letterman has lined up former president Barack Obama to be his first guest when he returns to a TV talk show later this month. Obama will be the inaugural guest on the show's first episode, marking his first television talk show appearance since leaving office.

The next five episodes will then be released monthly.

Last March, Letterman told New York Magazine that he "would have gone to work on Trump" if he was still a late night host.

Light snow, freezing temperatures expected in York leading into New Year's Eve
The air will feel -15 degrees Tuesday night as snow is possible in North Central Ohio, according to the National Weather Service. More clouds will overspread the state Friday night and temperatures will bottom out in the single digits and lower teens.

Almost 14 million people watched Letterman's final show on CBS in May 2015. The interview will take place inside both a studio and out in the world, and feature in-the-field segments of Letterman on outings related to his guests. Other guests include actor George Clooney, Nobel Prize-winning Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai, rapper Jay-Z, actress Tina Fey and radio personality Howard Stern.

According to Netflix, the guests were picked because Letterman finds them "fascinating".

This is the first time Letterman has led a series in over two years.

Letterman and Obama shared another "first" back in 2009, when the latter became the first sitting president to appear on the "Late Show."
