Four law enforcement officers were shot in SC early Tuesday morning.

The officers responded to the call at around 10 p.m. Monday just outside York County, South Carolina, the York County Sheriff's Office said at a news conference today. Before law enforcement arrived on scene, the suspect fled on foot. One is a K-9 officer, who was searching for the suspect when he was shot.

The man accused of shooting four SC law enforcement officers early Tuesday morning was found with several "long guns" and was previously arrested for assaulting an officer, a report said.

While SLED investigates the officer-involved shooting aspects of this incident, the broader investigation into McCall's alleged CDV and overnight orgy of violence will be led by the York County sheriff's office. Sgt. Clinton was transported to Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, South Carolina where he is receiving treatment. Three York County sheriff's deputies were struck.

"This is the worst-case scenario for officers and their families, and right now we are concerned about all of them", York Police Chief Andy Robinson said. A K-9 officer was also wounded.

The condition of the officers were not clear early Tuesday.

"The sheriff's office can really use your prayers and your thoughts", York County Sheriff's spokesman Trent Faris said.

Around 3:30 a.m., more shots were fired.

The sheriff says two hours later McCall ambushed York County Det. McCall also allegedly shot at a police helicopter.

Several departments then pitched in to help find McCall.

During the search, deputies said McCall fired more shots, injuring three officers. As of this writing, there is no word on the injured officiers' condition.

Roger Gilfillan says McCall lived with his wife and three children in a rural area outside York. McCall never appeared to cause any trouble, Gilfillan said. The suspect is reportedly now in custody.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are assisting in the investigation.
