Becky Kern, a National Weather Service meteorologist at the Valley, Nebraska, office, said the precipitation should last through sunrise.

What's causing the icy weather?

A cold front draped across Mid-Missouri has slowly been advancing to the west.

"We're in an active pattern", said Kern.

Sean Reilly, city spokesman for Overland Park, said road crews reported to work at 4 a.m. Tuesday, but at that time, temperatures were above freezing. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Highs could reach the lower 30s to mid-40s and overnight lows will dip into the mid-20s.

Sunday should be mostly sunny and 40 and similar conditions are expected on Monday. It will stay in the 30s next Monday with a small chance of a light rain or snow shower.
