Gary Woodland wins 3rd PGA Tour title in Phoenix

Fan favourite Rickie Fowler held the 54-hole lead on Saturday night but was overtaken by a host of players including eventual victor Gary Woodland on Sunday. "He's a miracle, and I'm just happy to be here right now".

The status of Lue, who led the team to an National Basketball Association title in 2016 and three straight Finals appearances, came into question following Saturday night's 32-point home loss to Houston, the latest blowout suffered by a team in disarray.

He credits the improved short game to recent work with Pete Cowen and Brad Faxon.

Overnight leader Rickie Fowler faded with a 73 to tie for 11th, while Shane Lowry closed with a 71 that left the Offaly man on two-over for his tournament. I just wouldn't say it was my most fortunate week and we all know you need some fortune to win a tournament. Previous year was a bit of a mess. "I felt like I hit a lot of good putts, so it was a little disappointing to not see really anything go in on the back nine".

"It's been a long five years, but it's been coming", said the 33-year-old American, seven times a runner-up since August 2013, including twice last season. He ran out of holes, though, making two pars to close out the second-best round of the day.

"That was just kind of a tribute to a year ago", he said.

Fowler was one-under after 14 holes and then bogeyed 15, 16 and 17. I had to deal with it internally, but physically I was playing well. "I called Butch and said, 'we've got to figure out what's going on.' Obviously I haven't won in five years, but there's a reason for that, because my game's pretty good".

Washington could place franchise tag on Kirk Cousins to trade him
There's a chance that Cousins could be the quarterback that's missing for each of those teams, putting them all on level footing. Cousins may be interested in coming to a Cleveland team that is young and that has been stuck in a 20- some year rebuild.

The PGA Tour now moves back to California for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am.

"It's a collection of courses I really like", Mickelson said.

The second-place finish was the best of the season for Reavie, who finished 18th at the Sony Open in Hawaii and 52nd at the CareerBuilder Challenge in La Quinta, Calif.

After Reavie missed his par-saving attempt, Woodland tapped in for his third US PGA Tour title, and his first since 2013. The victor chipped in from 30 feet to save par at the sixth hole and took just 26 putts Sunday, one day after he needed just 27 in the third round.

Ollie Schniederjans and Brendan Steele tied for third three shots out of the playoff while Phil Mickelson gave his fans plenty to get excited about before a double bogey at the last saw him finish 5th, a position he shared with Chesson Hadley, Matt Kuchar and Bryson DeChambeau.

Popular names occupied the leader board at the outset of play on Sunday, Gary Woodland's not among them.
