After the resignation of South African President Jacob Zuma on Wednesday, Witness reporter Vuyelwa Mtolo took to the streets and asked people what they thought about it. Ramaphosa said he supports the work of a judicial commission that is about to investigate the phenomenon, but one opposition leader said the new president would have to turn on his own political party if he is serious about fighting graft.

Buhari congratulated Ramaphosa on his twitter handle saying: "Congratulations also to the African National Congress (ANC), and the Government and people of South Africa, on the peaceful transfer of power that resulted in the election of President Ramaphosa". But Thabo Mbeki and FW de Klerk honoured the invitation.

Others, Hartley said, didn't want Ramaphosa to assume the role as Mandela's No. 2 because he was a remainee and did not climb the ANC ranks in exile.
