Brown was down for an extended period but was able to get up and walk off on his own power.

LeBron James weighed in on Twitter with a tip of the cap for Brown. He came into the game averaging 14.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.0 steals, all marked improvements over the numbers he posted in his rookie season, after the Celtics made him the third overall pick in the 2016 draft.

Brown was evaluated for a concussion and taken to a hospital for a CT scan and additional testing after the fall, according to Celtics coach Brad Stevens. "I think that's the difference right now between us being a really good team and being a good team".

Irving, the five-time All-Star whose first season with the Celtics has been stellar save for some minor injuries, was good to go after sitting out at Chicago on Monday to rest a sore left knee that was aggravated in the previous game. "You just never wanna see that happen especially to a teammate of yours".

The Boston Celtics guaranteed themselves a trip to the National Basketball Association playoffs with a win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Brown had 14 points and five rebounds in 28 minutes for the Celtics, who led 86-74 after three quarters. "I was just happy he was able to get up and walk off because that was one of the worst falls I've seen", he said after the game.

The dynamic duo were in one fluid motion in the final frame - they combined for 15 of the C's 31 fourth-quarter points and shut the door on any potential Timberwolves comeback.

As well as Boston (46-20) played, there was a sombre mood in the locker room after the game as the team's minds were on second-year forward Jaylen Brown.

Strength was the name of this game for the Celtics, who overcame a career-high 30 points by Nemanja Bjelica on 11-for-16 shooting, including 6 for 9 from 3-point range.

Up next, Boston takes on the Pacers this Sunday night.
