Cleveland Browns: Will free agency bring more excitement?

The Chicago Bears spent their No. 2 draft pick on North Carolina's Mitch Trubisky last season.

They're the first trades John Dorsey has pulled off since the Browns hired him as general manager on December 7.

The Seahawks are dropping another vital member of their 2013 Super Bowl team, releasing seven-year veteran cornerback Richard Sherman.

Needless to say Thomas approved of the acquisition of quarterback Tyrod Taylor from Buffalo for the Browns' third-round pick - No. 65 overall in the 2018 NFL Draft.

The Cleveland Browns have found themselves another quarterback and a wide receiver as they rebuild a team that went 0-16 last season. In a span of roughly 24 hours, Cleveland acquired wide receiver Jarvis Landry from the Miami Dolphins, quarterback Tyrod Taylor from the Buffalo Bills, defensive back Damarious Randall from the Green Bay Packers.

That would force the Giants to pick a quarterback, offensive lineman Quenton Nelson, defensive lineman Bradley Chubb or trade down.

The president has called the investigation a "witch hunt", although aides have clarified he means the probe of any collusion has no merit.

As numerous reports have stated in the aftermath of these big trades, Cleveland is still in the market to draft a quarterback in the upcoming draft.

There are also indications that Dealing Dorsey may not be finished. They understand the receiving tandem of Landry, who's been to three Pro Bowls in four years, and Josh Gordon, a 2013 All-Pro selection, has the potential to be one of the best in the league. I still think the Browns will pick a quarterback; Taylor is only a one-year bridge.

The trades did just that.

We're about to find out.

He declined to go into further detail, as he was preparing for his brother's wedding Saturday night, but he said he'd be commenting more on the "ThomaHawk Show", his podcast via with former Browns receiver Andrew Hawkins. It's not even close. Their moves from here on out put them in a better position than they were in a year ago, which ultimately means that they are not only a position to win a game, but maybe even multiple games.

But in order for Cleveland to be come a free-agent destination of choice, the Browns must change the outside perception of the organization. The addition of assistant GM Eliot Wolf and Vice President of Player Personnel Alonzo Highsmith helped. Right now, he has the ability to outbid every other team in the league. The Patriots'Rex Burkhead and the Bengals'Jeremy Hill, both of whom played for Jackson as members of the Bengals, and the Patriots'Dion Lewis, who was with the Browns in 2013, are headed for free agency. Coleman's early career has been plagued by injuries, but I believe he can still develop into a very good player.
